Paul Heckel/Charlie Jennison Quartet

new album in the works!

Happy to share the news of a renewed collaboration of four veteran New England jazz players that will result in the creation of a new album of original tunes to be released sometime in the fall of 2024!

The players are Tim Gilmore, drums, Paul Heckel, vibes, John Hunter, bass, and Charlie Jennison, reeds. The group is planning a retreat this summer to work on new compositions and arrangements.

Vocalist Patrice Williamson joins the Phillips Exeter Academy faculty jazz sextet this Monday night in tribute to Seacoast jazz great Tommy Gallant. Because of covid protocols at PEA, this concert will be online only with no live audience allowed in but the link to watch is free.

David Scott’s  group “The Vintage Vocal Quartet” will be the featured artists with the Capitol Center Jazz Orchestra in a 4pm concert on Sunday, May22, 2022 at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH.  Ticket information here: https://ccanh.com/

August 2020 update 

Every time I wake up and realize I haven't posted anything on my website another 6 months has passed!

Of course, this time not much was happening due to the unfortunate fallout from the pandemic, which as you know impacted performing artists particularly hard.

It cheers me up to tell you that my Iridescence quartet will be playing a live outdoor concert on August 8th at Crow's Feat Farm on Drinkwater Rd. in Kensington, NH from 3-5pm.  Ticket information is in the "Calendar" section elsewhere on this site.

If you have been visiting my site for information regarding public performances, not much to report this month as most of my gigs are for private parties and functions.  

There will be some upcoming big band shows in December, so check back!

CJ Poole and I continue to hold down the fort at the Centennial Inn in Concord on Thursday nights from 6:30-9pm.  Details on the calendar for October 3rd.

New Seacoast Jazz Series

Harry Jones Concert Rescheduled 

The Annual Harry Jones Memorial concert, cancelled due to snow in February, has been rescheduled to Sunday night, March 18th.  The featured performing group is the Seacoast Big Band under the direction of Dave Seiler and featuring a number of local players like Marc LaForce, John Hunter, Jim Butka, and myself.  It will be held in the usual location, Johnson Theater in the Paul Arts Center on the UNH campus, and will start at 8pm.  Tickets are $12 and $10 at the door.

Upcoming Concerts 

I am pleased to announce that there are several big band concerts on the horizon beginning with the Annual Harry Jones Memorial Concert at UNH featuring Dave Seiler and the Seacoast Big Band!  That concert will be Tuesday, January 23.

We will also be performing on February 18th at the Timberlane Performing Arts Center in Plaistow.

The Capitol Jazz Orchestra will feature its smaller 10 piece unit at the Concord City Auditorium on February 25th.

Still playing Sunday Brunch at Wolfeboro Inn 

I was also excited to find out that the yearly contract with the Wolfeboro Inn to provide a jazz piano duo for their Sunday brunches has been renewed for 2018!

Come join me and CJ Poole on bass in the dining room of this historic hotel for an excellent selection of entrees, specially prepared items and desserts.  Have our chef cook you an omelet to your specifications or enjoy the carving station, featuring roast beef, turkey, and pork loin on a rotating basis.

Centennial Gig renewed! 

Excited to find out recently that the contract for my jazz duo with CJ Poole on bass and me on piano playing every Thursday night at the Centennial Hotel has been renewed for 2018!

Come join us in the lounge some Thursday evening from 6:30 to 9:00 pm for some jazz standards.  Relax with a cocktail or enjoy the first class cusine.  We'll provide the background jazz for your conversation with friends.
